The day after we returned from Christmas, the kids were playing with their friends in the cul de sac. As I was getting dinner ready, Julia flew into the house yelling, “Mom, come quick. Mom! Mom! You’ve got to see this!! Mom! You are not going to believe this!!” After my jolt of panic was over, I followed her as she skipped out the front door and there Brighton was whizzing by on the neighbor’s bike with NO training wheels and grinning as big as his chin strap! After celebrating like a high school cheerleader and causing his first fall (so the neighbors tell me), I spent the next FIVE minutes running around trying to find a camera in an “after Christmas, after road-trip house" with a memory card AND a charged battery!!
The neighbor Dad told me that his son, Max, had received a new bike for Christmas, so Brighton just picked up his old one and took off. The Dad had no idea he had never done it until Julia started cheering him on.
So here he is with a few more days of experience, riding it just like he does everything else……….FAST!!!
