Christmas Letter 2019
Half a page….. Half a page….. This is what I have been saying to myself. I will consider it a small Christmas miracle if I can just keep it to half a page. It’s always the goal but I usually fail miserably. I am serious this year.
If I were still writing on a regular basis, I would LIKE to write about “you know you are a parent of a teenager if…”. How I would love to hear all the things those of you who have raised teenagers or who are currently raising teenagers would say! Belly laughs, for sure. But here we are in the thick of it wanting to keep a light heart because the more people I talk with, the more universal I find this dynamic to be! The ones that fit my home best right now and the ones which also fall into the category “safe to share” are: I know I am a parent of a teenager if… I buy ramen by the 12 pack, the wrinkle-care button on the dryer is worn out, multiple times a day I hear {with hand up}, “I know. I’ve got it.”, I can’t find MY clothes, I can’t find MY phone charger and I am praying as I have never prayed before. Dead give-aways. Teens on the loose.
-Julia is in the middle of her senior year and has decisions to make regarding which college she will attend in the fall. We enjoy her quirky sense of humor, her practicality and her genuine kindness. Our home will have a hole come fall.
-Brighton continues to add all of the “extra” to our lives—his love of all kinds of music, his desire to be all over Fort Worth all of the time with all of the people, his tender heart and his dance moves that even Scrooge couldn’t help but giggle.
-This year I hung up my pharmacist’s white coat {but not my license} and became our church’s women’s director. I love everything about it. {Watermark Fort Worth} -Jeff has expanded his ministry to businessmen hosting a monthly gathering for leaders in Fort Worth to explore the remarkable power of servant leadership and how it can radically transform lives. {leaderxchange.org}
With much gratitude in our hearts, Jeff and I are holding onto our hats {and each other!} as these years seem to be moving at a speed that is incomprehensible. We are thankful for each of you and how our lives have crossed paths with you. We love you. Merry Christmas!
